Amritsar city police say they have arrested five people linked to a network allegedly involved in cross-border trafficking of narcotics and illegal weapons. Police reported recovering 21.299 kilograms of heroin, 970 grams of methamphetamine, a .30-bore pistol and four live cartridges.
According to the preliminary investigation, the alleged main accused was in direct contact with a trafficker based abroad. Investigators say the foreign contact helped move heroin and weapons into India through the international border before onward distribution was arranged.
A case has been registered at the Airport police station. Officers are examining both the forward links—who was due to receive the material—and the backward links—how it entered the network. The investigation is also expected to establish the role of other people whose names emerge.
The seizure is a police claim at the investigation stage, not a court finding. Its significance will depend on whether investigators can document the supply chain, financial links and intended recipients. Border enforcement and treatment services remain complementary parts of the wider response to drug-related harm.
