Punjab’s power reliability is now a public accountability issue

Residents in Pathankot’s Kandi region reported going without electricity for four days and staged a protest. The disruption was not only an inconvenience: prolonged outages affect water pumps, small businesses, students, health needs and household safety. A repair update should therefore explain the fault, the expected restoration time and the temporary arrangements available to residents.\n\nPower reliability also depends on maintenance before a breakdown. Transformer capacity, damaged lines, tree clearance and monsoon preparedness all influence whether an outage is repaired quickly or becomes a multi-day crisis.
